

1. Field Organizing Internship: Based in the San Francisco Office
The summer 2008 application period is now closed. Please check back later for information about when we will begin accepting applications for fall 2008.
Support all levels of Organizing Department work, including planning events and workshops, assisting with legislative campaigns, managing volunteers, and building our activist base.
Interns also perform general administrative duties, such as organizing mass mailings, photocopying distribution materials, creating flyers, maintaining databases, and providing technical support to ACLU-NC chapters.
Time Commitment:
Minimum of two days per week, 10-15 weekly hours, including several evening meetings/commitments per month.
Preferred Skills:
Political science and related majors are encouraged to apply; people with strong inter-personal skills, experience in community organizing, volunteer coordination, grassroots organizations, or lobbying preferred.
2. Field Organizing Internships: Based in chapters throughout Northern California
Support the ACLU chapter in your local area to increase the capacity of our activists in the field and help mobilize our 55,000 ACLU members in Northern California.
Interns help build email lists, run phone-banks, participate in chapter programs, and table at local events. Volunteer chapter activists work on civil liberties issues in communities throughout the region, from Fresno to Modesto, to Davis, Concord, Santa Cruz, Oakland, Santa Rosa, and more.
For a complete list of current chapters: aclunc.org/chapters. Interns work with Organizing and Field staff at the ACLU-NC office, meeting in person twice per month and via phone and email on a regular basis.
Interns work from home and need daily access to a phone and computer.

Time Commitment:
Minimum of one day per week (flexible hours), not
including attending the events and meetings of your chapter and coming to the
San Francisco office twice per month.
