San Francisco and the Marriage Cases: Legal Documents

The City and County of San Francisco, represented by San Francisco City Attorney Dennis J. Herrera and Deputy City Attorney Therese M. Stewart, filed a lawsuit in March 2004 challenging the discriminatory provisions in the marriage statutes. This lawsuit was called City and County of San Francisco v. California, and was combined with the other cases, including the one brought by the ACLU, NCLR and other parties.
