Past Event: Bill of Rights Day 2007 Featuring Harry Belafonte

On Dec. 9, ACLU-NC celebrated the Bill of Rights with more than 500 guests at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

Harry Belafonte was honored with the Chief Justice Earl Warren Civil Liberties award for his lifelong commitment to protecting civil rights and civil liberties, including his latest initiative to address child incarceration and ensure opportunities for young people. Belafonte delivered the keynote address, and ACLU-NC Executive Director Maya Harris gave the annual State of the Union speech.

The Monterey County Chapter of the ACLU-NC was honored with the Dick Criley Activism Award, and Kiran Savage-Sangwan received the Lola Hanzel Courageous Advocacy Award.
