ACLU Releases In-Depth Report on Governemnt Surveillance in Northern California and Central California Since 9/11

WHAT:

From Fresno to Berkeley, federal, state and local agencies have infiltrated or secretly monitored organizations and individuals engaging in political activity protected by the First Amendment, according to an ACLU-NC report on government surveillance. The 35-page report documents the stories of individuals and groups that were targets of government surveillance, analyzes current law enforcement policy, and recommends specific policy reforms to safeguard Californians’ rights to privacy and free speech. Several of the individuals cited in the report; including an elementary school teacher, college students, an insurance salesman and an attorney will speak at the news conference. The speakers are from Fresno, Sacramento, Oakland, and Berkeley.
