Some say the ACLU is a family tradition. Certainly, ACLU members come in all ages. Here, Harrison (4 years old) demonstrates his pride in being a member of an ACLU family.

FrontLine Attorney Reception

Every summer, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation holds a reception to update Northern California lawyers about the ACLU's work to protect the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and people with HIV/AIDS, and to raise some of the financial support needed to do this work. The FrontLine Attorney Reception is sponsored by law firms and individual attorneys in the Bay Area legal community.

The ACLU FrontLine Fund is a partnership of the national ACLU Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender & AIDS Project and the ACLU Foundation of Northern California (ACLU-NC). Contributions to the ACLU FrontLine Attorney Reception are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Half of every gift supports the cutting-edge advocacy of the ACLU LGBT & AIDS Project, particularly in Southern and Midwestern states where the civil rights bar is stretched thin by serious, and repeated, constitutional violations. The other half of every FrontLine gift supports a wide range of civil liberties work undertaken by the ACLU-NC.

The LGBT & AIDS Project of the national ACLU protects the constitutional rights of LGBT people and those living with HIV/AIDS through impact litigation, public education, and legislative advocacy. The project is renowned among LGBT rights groups for developing an integrated approach to advocacy. Project attorneys and communications and organizing specialists work together to implement legal initiatives structured not only to change the law but also to influence opinion leaders and public opinion in order to make legal change possible and politically sustainable.

The ACLU Foundation of Northern California is the only public interest law organization in the region dedicated to the education and preservation of civil liberties contained in the U.S. and California constitutions. The ACLU-NC Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3)  charitable organization that conducts litigation, public education, and community organizing programs in defense of civil liberties. Since its founding in 1934, the organization has had nationally recognized staff with expertise in free speech, separation of church and state, racial justice, reproductive rights, LGBT rights, and criminal justice issues.
