ACLU at SXSW 2018

The ACLU is headed back to South by Southwest Interactive, an annual technology conference for entrepreneurs, policy advocates, and others in the tech community.

This year we will be presenting on the federal government’s unconstitutional practice of conducting suspicionless searches of travelers’ digital devices at airports and international borders. We will discuss the state of digital privacy, current litigation related to the issue of digital border searches, and steps that people can take to help protect their sensitive personal information. Our panel features Esha Bhandari, Staff Attorney with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, Vickie Baranetsky, General Counsel at the Center for Investigative Reporting, and Matt Cagle, Technology and Civil Liberties Attorney at the ACLU of Northern California.
