Healdsburg: Sheriff Candidates Forum

Article Media

In June, there's an historic election for the Sonoma County Sheriff: an office that hasn't been contested in 25 years. Join us on Tuesday, April 24 for a candidates forum at Healdsburg High School. This is your chance to meet the candidates and make an informed decision about this powerful elected official.

A great deal of power and responsibility lies in the hands of the Sonoma County Sheriff, but without involvement from voters like you, community organizations, opinion leaders and the media, the immense powers in the hands of the sheriff will go unchecked.

Sheriffs have the power to run county jail systems, use alternative punishments to incarceration, minimize crime by providing opportunities for rehabilitation, and influence state policy on critical civil liberties issues. The sheriff is responsible for serving the interests of all members of the community and enforcing the laws without prejudice or bias.
