The Obama administration recently set a new record (and not in a good way): it has carried out two million deportations in the past 5 years. That is more deportations than any other president in the history of the United States!
These senseless deportations come at a great fiscal and human cost to us all. Before the TRUST Act, California alone spent $65 million to comply with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers.
Last year, more than two-thirds of those deported never even got a chance to fight their case before an immigration judge.
Think that’s crazy? Join us this May Day to fight for a fair and just immigration system. It’s time to pull the plug on these senseless deportations that are tearing our communities apart.
