Have security and privacy become mutually exclusive? In a post-9/11 world, surveillance is engaged in by nearly everyone, from governmental agencies and private industry to a public armed with cellphone cameras and wearable tech.

ACLU of Northern California's Leadership Development Manager & Organizer Tessa D'Archangelew will participate in fast-paced, fun presentations by a variety of experts and activists who will address these issues.

As an organizer on the ACLU-NC's Tech & Civil Liberties team, Tessa leads the campaign to help cities and counties adopt ordinances that create mechanisms for transparency, accountability, oversight and meaningful community input when considering surveillance technology. Several major cities and counties in California are currently working to adopt such an ordinance.

Other speakers include: Michelle Maranowski, exhibit developer, The Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose; social-practice artist Chris Treggiari, co-creator of Eyes on Oakland; and Ali Winston, award-winning journalist with the Center for Investigative Reporting, Emeryville.
