Nasreen Johnson is a communications strategist at the ACLU of Northern California. In this role, she uses strategic communications and people-centered storytelling to help further the ACLU’s critical mission defending civil rights and civil liberties.
Nasreen brings to the ACLU decades of experience in communications and public relations.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Nasreen was the Director of Marketing and Communications for the largest Community Action Agency in California and one of the largest in the nation. There she was able to amplify stories of those struggling because of poverty, homelessness, prior incarceration, and a lack of education and employment opportunities.
Nasreen has also provided communications for two international companies to promote sustainable irrigation in agriculture. She also operated her own communications firm and focused her attention on community-based organizations and other small businesses.
Nasreen is a graduate of Fresno Pacific University where she earned a bachelor’s in Business Management and an MBA in Global Business. She has received multiple awards for her work in the community, including her efforts to build a fully accessible sensory garden for students with special needs.
In her spare time, Nasreen likes to hang out with her kids and rescue dogs.
