This is America under Donald Trump.
On Thursday, the Trump administration sent federal immigration agents to the Bay Area. They fired flash bangs at peaceful protesters.
This is a flagrant abuse of power and an attack on free speech intended to instill fear, target Trump’s political opponents, and silence anyone who does not agree with him.
For now, Trump say he will not send the National Guard to San Francisco like he had been threatening to do.
That is certainly welcome news. But we shouldn’t get complacent and we’re certainly not out of the woods yet.
That’s why it’s important for us all to be prepared just in case there is another surge of federal troops anywhere in our region. Familiarize yourself with our Know Your Rights guides and share them with your friends, family, and neighbors:
And above all, stay peaceful. Don’t give President Trump any excuse to escalate the use of force against civilians in our communities.
