Indigenous Education Justice

The legacy of the boarding school era continues today. Native students throughout the state face serious barriers to accessing quality education in a respectful environment, endure intergenerational trauma that governments have yet to acknowledge, and have among the worst indicators on academic performance and school pushout. The ACLU of Northern California has fought alongside tribes and Native Americans to defend the fundamental right to education for the past two decades. Below are examples of cases and campaigns we worked on during this time.
