ACLU of Northern CA

Statement from Jennie Pasquarella, Director of Immigrants' Rights:

“It is urgent that Congress pass a clean Dream Act before the winter recess. Congress must not leave town for their winter holiday recess without dealing with this vital issue. Immigrant youth are already losing protection from deportation, and need this assurance that they can stay in their homes and communities.

"There is bipartisan support for a clean Dream Act in Congress and it is supported by a majority of Americans. It is clear that California representatives Paul Cook (CA-08), Devin Nunes (CA-22), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Mimi Walters (CA-45) and Ed Royce (CA-39) are key votes. We will work everyday for the next two months to ensure these pivotal lawmakers do the right thing.

"We can not and must not let immigrant youth be used as political footballs. There is a narrow window to act and the time is now.”
