Government Requests U.S. Supreme Court Stay in NTPSA v. Noem

The Trump administration asked the U. S. Supreme Court to stay a federal district court's order preserving Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 350,000 Venezuelan immigrants. If SCOTUS grants a stay, Venezuelans who registered for TPS in 2023 would immediately face the prospect of deportation while the case proceeds.   Read More

BREAKING: Court Bars Border Patrol’s Unlawful Stop-and-Arrest Practices

In a major victory for civil rights, a federal district court issued a preliminary injunction barring U.S. Border Patrol from using practices that violate federal law and the U.S. Constitution. The ruling applies to future immigration enforcement operations in the Eastern District of California, which stretches inland from Bakersfield to the Oregon border. Read More

TPS Holders Challenge Cancellation of Humanitarian Relief for 600,000 Venezuelans

In the first hearing in NTPSA v. Noem, a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's decision to terminate humanitarian protections for more than one million Haitian and Venezuelan TPS holders, plaintiffs asked the court to put on hold DHS Secretary Noem's plan to revoke work authorization and legal status in early April for 350,000 Venezuelans while the case proceeds. ACLU Challenges Unconstitutional Seizure of UCSC Student's Phone
