Emilia Garcia is an investigator at the ACLU of Northern California, where she provides investigative support to the Legal-Policy teams’ efforts to advance and protect civil rights in Northern California. Her work is primarily focused on investigating issues related to criminal justice. She is motivated to uncover truths that are hidden in the criminal legal system, both by flaw and by design.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Emilia worked as a capital defense investigator helping to develop and support her clients’ claims for relief in state habeas proceedings. Emilia also worked as an immigration law paralegal for several years, where she helped hundreds of individuals prepare their applications for asylum and removal defense. She is a graduate of Cornell University and resides in Northern California. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
