Olivia Ray (she/her)
Olivia Ray is an individual giving officer at the ACLU of Northern California. In this capacity, she cultivates, solicits, and stewards gifts from ACLU donors and prospects. Through direct interaction with donors, she deepens relationships and provides opportunities to advance justice through their giving to the ACLU.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Olivia was the director of development and communications at Coro Southern California, where she led the organization’s grants, fundraising events, annual campaigns, individual giving, branding, all external communications, and fundraising data management.
Under her leadership, Coro broke fundraising records for both of its flagship events, achieving a 79% year-over-year increase in gross revenue for the annual luncheon and a 12.7% increase for the annual gala. She also drove a 125% increase in year-end campaign revenue and produced a successful annual report as part of a broader donor communications strategy. In addition, Olivia developed and launched the organization’s first cohesive brand strategy—including a new website, visual identity, messaging framework, and suite of marketing materials—and implemented a refreshed communications approach that increased newsletter open rates by 14% during her tenure.
Olivia began her career as an elementary school teacher and later held leadership roles in the charter school sector, serving as a compliance coordinator and manager of compliance and special projects. In those positions, she focused on expanding access and opportunity for students from historically marginalized communities through development, project management, and compliance initiatives.
Olivia is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she earned an honors B.A. in political science with a minor in business administration, and of Stanford University, where she completed a M.A. in elementary education. A lifelong advocate for civic engagement and social justice, Olivia interned during her undergraduate studies with Students Promoting Empowerment and Consent, an anti-sexual assault and relationship violence organization, and authored an honors thesis exploring media representations of sexual violence.
In her spare time, Olivia is a recreational aerialist, yoga practitioner, and dancer. She enjoys traveling (often through ecotourism), reading, attending live music events, and spending time in nature. She currently serves on the board of Envisioneers Inc., supporting innovative after-school programming for middle school students.
